Disable the Aero theme.

Disable transparency.- Click the Start orb.
- Click "Control Panel".
- Click "Appearance and Personalization".
- Click Personalization.
- Click Window Color and Appearance.
- Uncheck "Enable transparency".
- Click "Save changes".

Run Disk Cleanup.
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.

Defragment the hard drive.
